He was born in Copenhagen in 1820. A graduate of the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, under J. L. Lund, he traveled Europe where he sought inspiration, especially from the Munich landscape scene.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Georg Emil Libert )〕 He exhibited many works in Charlottenborg and in "Kunstforeningen" (The Art Association).
